Privacy policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

This policy explains what happens to information when you use Small Estate Map (smallestatemap.com).

The short version

You don't need an account. When you download, copy or print one of our letters or the checklist, we save only your name, your phone or email (if you gave one), your state and which document it was. We never save any detail about the person who died. We don't sell information. We run a cookie-free visit counter to see how many people use the site.

The letters and the checklist

The letter to a bank or other holder, the letter asking for the date-of-death balance and the checklist work in your browser, and the PDF, Word and text files are created on your device. When you download either one as a PDF, Word or text file, or copy or print it, we save: the name you entered, the phone number or email you entered (if any), the state of the page you used and the type of document. We also record the page, the date and time, and your approximate location (country and state) based on your IP address.

Details about the person who died are never saved or sent. We do not save the name of the person who died, the date of death, account numbers, dollar amounts, the names of heirs or beneficiaries, mailing addresses, the bank's or holder's name, the items you checked, or anything else you typed in your own words. Those details stay in your browser and in the file you create. We don't save anything you type until you download, copy or print.

We use the saved information to understand how many people in each state use our tools and to improve our guides. We don't sell it, and we don't share it except with service providers that host our site and database (Cloudflare), or if the law requires it. We keep it for up to three years, then delete it. To see or delete it, email hello@robinclaim.com with the name you used, and we will respond within 30 days.

The small estate checker

The checker works only in your browser. The date of death, the amounts and the answers you enter are not saved or sent anywhere.

Information collected automatically

Cloudflare, which hosts the site, receives technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page you request, to deliver the page and protect the site.

We run our own visit counter. It does not use cookies. It keeps a random visit identifier in your browser's local storage. For each visit it records the pages viewed, the site you came from, the time spent on each page, clicks on buttons and links, your IP address, your country, state and city, and your device and browser type. We keep visit records for 5 years and then delete them. We don't use Google Analytics on this site.

Email, children and your rights

If you email us, we use your message only to reply. Please don't send us details about the person who died or the estate by email. This site is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. You can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Residents of states such as California may have additional rights.
